Research notes

A modern Brussels-loom sample, given by the makers, after a design by the Spitalfields silk designer Anna Maria Garthwaite dated 1753. The weave is modern, but the record shows a mid-18th-century design woven in the Brussels technique of the period. Garthwaite's dates differ between sources (c.1688 or 1690 to 1763).
