Research notes

Why "DuPont invented nylon" is only half right: DuPont's polymer is nylon 6,6; nylon 6 came from Schlack's work at IG Farben. Matters for carpet: nylon 6 fibers (e.g. Allied Chemical's Caprolan) competed with DuPont's nylon 6,6 in tufted carpet. Find a primary or scholarly source (Schlack's patent; Hounshell & Smith).
