Research notes
This is Scholz's second hand-tufting patent family, filed while Scholz Handtuft-Technik KG was operating. Family members: AT347214B ("Vorrichtung zum Tuften von Teppichen od. dgl.", D05C15/06), US4029031A ("Device for providing rugs and the like with tufts", 14 Jun 1977, inventor Hartmut Scholz), GB1536346A, FR2303888A1, IT1063070B and a Japanese member JPS51116752A. One summary of US4029031 describes a manual tufting device with a fixed needle, a movable cutting blade and two arms that slide against each other. This is consistent with the hand-operated (later pneumatic) guns that Hofmann still sells, but I have not read the claims. Verified Oct 2026 by web search only. patents.google.com and Espacenet could not be opened from the sandbox, so I did not read the document itself. The DE number, title and priority date come from Google Patents family listings, and the AT dates from the AT347214B record snippet. I did not see the DE C3 publication date. Research note (Oct 2026): found through search results; the patent document itself wasn't opened. The Patent drawings job fetches the document from Google Patents; if drawings appear on this record, the number is confirmed.
