Research notes

CORRECTED source and quotation: 1967 is confirmed by Canon van Nederland (quoted above) and the 1988 MIP Genemuiden description. The sentence the brief attributed to the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed wasn't found. Dutch terms: uncut loops = bouclé-tapijt; cut = moquette-tapijt. Citation check (Oct 2026, from search results; pages not opened): confirmed in a different source. The 1967 date is confirmed: 'De eerste tuftingmachine, een soort reusachtige naaimachine met honderden naalden, kwam in 1967' (Canon). MIP Genemuiden says that in 1967 the first factory switched to nylon and woollen floor covering. The exact quoted sentence and its attribution to the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed were NOT found. The closest RCE-lineage text is the MIP description, a provincial project run with the Rijksdienst voor de Monumentenzorg. Growth: 10 factories with tufting machines by end of 1972; 49 machines producing 23 million m² ten years later. The Dutch terms bouclé-/moquette-tapijt were not verified.
