Research notes
NOT CONFIRMED. The article exists, but the WWII / southern-US sentence wasn't found, and its archaic phrasing suggests it comes from a mid-century Hindi encyclopedia, so it may not be independent confirmation. Independent confirmation of the Western-origin account in Hindi. Citation check (Oct 2026, from search results; pages not opened): source not found. The Hindi Wikipedia article 'क़ालीन' exists and does use गुच्छित / tufted machine-carpet wording, but the specific WWII / 'southern United States' sentence did not appear in any search snippet. 'Independent confirmation' is doubtful: the archaic 'संयुक्त राष्ट्र (अमरीका)' phrasing suggests the text derives from the mid-century Hindi Vishwakosh, not independent research. This is unconfirmed.
