Research notes
CORRECTED title: the Iraq/USA/Malaysia shares are for carpet made in Tianjin, not all Chinese exports. 23.5% of world share (2023). Tianjin, Jan–Oct 2024: Iraq 19.6%, USA 17.1%, Malaysia 11.2%. Citation check (Oct 2026, from search results; pages not opened): partly confirmed. The 23.5% world share (2023, #1 exporter of carpets broadly defined) is cited from ITC Trade Map. The Iraq 19.6%, USA 17.1% and Malaysia 11.2% figures cover carpets PRODUCED IN TIANJIN only, for Jan–Oct, most likely 2024 (the article says 今年; one summary rendered it as 2023). So the title 'China's biggest customer is Iraq' is wrong as stated: it should be 'Tianjin's biggest carpet market is Iraq'. No national ranking was found. The US is China's top market for home textiles overall. Total Chinese carpet exports in 2023 were US$4.0 billion (CHTA). Source: 一张地毯的全球化之旅:去东南亚,收割新时代?
