Research notes

Welspun Flooring Ltd was formed in March 2016 as a subsidiary of the home-textile maker Welspun India. A Hyderabad plant (Rs 1,100 crore, initially 200 acres) was under construction in 2018 for a 2019 start; it makes carpet tiles, broadloom, artificial grass and click vinyl. The company now calls it a 300-acre, 27 million m²/year plant and "Asia's largest". Why it matters: India's main entry into industrial machine-tufted carpet, distinct from its handmade (Bhadohi/Jaipur) export trade. Dates: commissioning date not confirmed.
