Research notes

Founded in 1972 by textile engineer Roland Butz (d. 2023) with Winfried Loskant, aimed at contract carpet for hotels and offices with bold colour. Its Krefeld site tufts broadloom and carpet tiles (cut and loop pile) and since 2022 runs Europe's first Niaga plant for recyclable carpet; absorbed sister firm Toucan-T in 2021. Led by Daniel Butz. Why it matters: a design-led German contract tufter; with Vorwerk, evidence that Germany made tufted carpet even though it built no tufting machines (see ner-de-no-machines). Dates: 1972 consistent; Stuttgart vs Denkendorf as founding place. Mostly company sources.
