Research notes

A textile company founded in 1865 that entered carpet in 1968 by buying Callaway Mills (LaGrange, Nichols and Pine Mountain, Georgia). Its timeline lists the Millitron digital carpet printer in 1973 (now described as digital dye-injection patterning of carpet tiles). The LaGrange Live Oak plant, destroyed by fire in 1995, was rebuilt as its main flooring plant. UK carpet-tile production from 1986. Ray Anderson (Interface) was a Milliken executive before 1973. Why it matters: Milliken's printing technology is a major chapter in patterning tufted carpet without coloured yarn. Dates: 1968 entry confirmed by company and press; the company's FAQ misspells "Calloway". Millitron 1973 is a company date.
