Research notes
Tarkett says Desso was founded in Oss as a maker of woven carpets; a Desso brochure says its origins were a Belgian manufacturer that began weaving in Oss. Synthetic-turf division from 1980. Owned at times by DLW, Armstrong, NPM Capital (2007–11) and Bencis; Tarkett agreed to buy it on 30 October 2014. Now known for commercial carpet tiles and rolls. Why it matters: a Dutch woven-carpet firm that became a European commercial tufter (carpet tiles); a European counterpart to Interface. Dates: acquisition completion 31 Dec 2014 vs 2 Jan 2015 vs "2015". When Desso began tufting not found.
