Research notes

Family firm with no prior rug experience that began hand-tufting in a Marrickville factory to offer designs that imported rugs lacked. Early commissions: a rug for St Patrick's Cathedral marking Pope John Paul II's 1986 visit and one for Parliament House for the 1988 Bicentennial royal visit. By the 1990s it worked with architects and artists including Harry Seidler and John Coburn; a 1993 Linda Jackson rug is in the Powerhouse Museum. Showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland; marked 40 years in 2026. Why it matters: the main Australian hand-tufted studio and an example of local hand-tufting replacing imports. Dates: 1986 agreed; the cathedral rug is dated 1986 in one source and 1988 in a caption elsewhere (company page has a placeholder).
