Research notes

A machine fixers' manual from the decade machines took over the bedspread trade: a primary source for how early tufting machines worked and were kept running. Windham also patented tufting machines (pat-us2112512a, with others; pat-us2311802a). That this is a third edition suggests earlier editions in the 1930s. Access (checked Oct 2026): no copy found on the Internet Archive or Open Library. Try WorldCat, the Bandy Heritage Center and Rome, Georgia libraries. Cited in Deaton, Bedspreads to Broadloom (1993), bibliography pp. 209–217 (transcribed in research/deaton-sources.md).
