Research notes
Industry history; Deaton's research files (company histories, periodicals, oral history transcripts with industry pioneers) are at the Bandy Heritage Center, Dalton State College. Check: you recall this book stating that DuPont invented nylon; note the page, and cite the Carothers patents for the invention itself. Availability (checked Oct 2026): no digital copy on the Internet Archive (not even for lending), none at HathiTrust, and Open Library has a catalogue record only. The author's own copy is the way in: its notes and bibliography are the trail to primary sources (see research/deaton-sources.md once transcribed). Bibliography (pp. 209–217) transcribed from Tim's copy, with a source trail: https://github.com/timeads/rug-research/blob/claude/ecstatic-hamilton-gw4o0u/research/deaton-sources.md. The book has no notes; the bibliography lists 14 books, about 40 articles, about 85 interviews (1972–1993) and 2 maps.
